Bloomington Township Department of Fire & Emergency Services responds to all
reports of fire within our response area, or to surrounding departments if
requested for mutual aid. BTDF&ES provides automatic aid by contract to to
Washington and Benton Townships 24/7 for any type of emergency that requires a
fire department response. These areas encompass large portions of the
Morgan-Monroe State Forest where we provide wildland firefighting services

Pictured on the left is Bloomington Township's
- Quint 59. The Quint was called to Brown County, Indiana for mutual aid at
the Seasons Lodge fire. The fire broke out around 3:00 AM. The night clerk
gathered the registrations of the quests staying at the lodge that night and
then went door-to-door evacuating the building.
The department also has an effective
Fire Prevention and Public Education
program in place. It's activities include elementary school presentations, preschool
presentations, station tours and presentations to civil and church groups.
The department actively investigates all fires for cause and will contact the
Indiana State Fire Marshall to participate in suspicious or high dollar loss
fires.
