EMS
Services
The department has been involved in EMS for over 20 years,
and was the first in our county to become AED equipped. EMS has become a
major portion of our emergency responses. Our EMS activities fall into three
broad categories.
|
|
First response. The department responds to all medical emergencies,
which occur within our area. This often means minutes saved from the
response time of an ambulance to the patient. The department's medical
personnel are all Emergency Medical Technicians. |
|
|
Auto extrication. The department provides auto extrication services
within our response area. The department is well equipped with power and
manually operated rescue equipment. |
|
|
Technical Rescue. Rescues that involve confined space, trench
rescue, water rescue, and high and low angle rope rescue fall into this
category because usually those people requiring rescue also require some
type of medical care. |
The department completes an inspection with the State EMS Commission every couple of years. This inspection is necessary to continue to operate as an EMS provider. We are certified BLS non-transport, and rescue provider.
The department also carries a ready supply of teddy bears for all pediatric patients.
